Dr. Alicia wants to empower women going through their own struggles to turn their lives around. She began her speaking career after continually being frustrated with truth’s suppression and the overcomplication of medical terminology. Her mission is to create a space where women can ask questions, get answers, and truly understand their bodies and the information they are learning.
Born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, Dr. Alicia spent her adolescence with friends playing sports, attending church, dating boys, and eating what she thought was healthy food. While living with what seemed to be a normal progression of adolescents, she struggled with cystic acne, hidden depression, back pain, and hormones. The only advice was to begin birth control in her early teens. She went on to be the first in her family to go to college, earning a Bachelor’s of Psychology before earning a Doctorate of Chiropractic. Her practice focused on addressing the root causes of health issues, rather than providing bandages or bad advice, which she had been on the receiving end of her entire life.
Though her professional life was flourishing, her personal life was flailing. She had two toddlers in a volatile marriage, leaving her bankrupt without even a car. She did not let these setbacks deter her from pursuing a divorce so that she could focus on healing, self-love, and self-care for herself and to create a positive atmosphere and role model for her daughters to thrive. With time, she built multiple six-figure businesses, consciously dated, and married her true partner, who loves and supports her passions and their children. As her business grew, she was traveling every week for years, contributing to low energy, extreme depression, digestion issues, migraines, and more. She was in her late 30s and trying to conceive, when she was told all of these issues were normal. As a doctor, she knew better. Common and normal are two very different things, and she felt disheartened for the women who trusted their doctors. After a miscarriage, she became even more dedicated to helping women struggling with heath and fertility issues.
For over a decade, she has continued her post-doctoral education in functional medicine and human nutrition. She is also a highly sought after consultant for pharmaceutical and naturopathic clinical trials in women’s health, medicine and cancer. Having had her feet in both worlds, she has only grown more passionate about enabling women to take control of their health through natural approaches.
Today, Dr. Alicia is National Board Certified, Functional Medicine Practitioner, Contributing Author for Scientific Research, Founder and CEO of Body Wellness Institute with extensive training in Clinical Research and Trial Management. She has also had extensive experience with the School of Hard Knocks. She is a passionate practitioner and speaker advocating for women’s health. She has led talks on topics from “Discharge. What’s Normal? What’s Not?” to “Tired of Being Tired” to “I Look Pregnant but I’m Not!” and many more tackling topics on bodily functions, hormones, bloating, low energy, depression, acne, weight, and more.
In Dr. Alicia’s spare time, she can be found traveling to warm tropical places with her husband and children. She loves swimming and creating beautiful art with her two daughters. A foodie at heart, she loves being in the kitchen cooking delicious and healthy meals for her family.
